'The Vampire Diaries' series finale spoilers: Finale set photos hit social media as cast and crew get nostalgic before the end
"The Vampire Diaries" series finale airs March 10, 2017
“The Vampire Diaries” is officially coming to an end. The series, which features ridiculously good-looking vampires as they deal with the many evils in the world and their rough nature, is finally concluding after years of being loved by loyal fans. While the end may be sad news, the crew is bent on bringing in a lot of surprises for the series finale.
As production wraps up, the cast and crew have taken to social media some pictures that document the final days of filming, using with these the hashtag #TVDForever. Just recently, it has been confirmed that Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert on the show, will be returning for one last dance before it ends for good. This was made official via an Instagram post by series creator Kevin Williamson.
There have been a lot of earlier rumours about Nina Dobrev returning to the show for one last time. Fortunately, the silence has been broken as Dobrev herself posted an image on her Instagram account of a script for “The Vampire Diaries,” with her name stamped on it. While this is certainly exciting, her reappearance might result in some dire consequences on the show because it means somebody will die. As revealed earlier, a major character will not live long enough to see the series to the end.
Even the show’s executive director, Julie Plec, took to Instagram to share some set photos from the show’s final episode. Some of the images show the cast and crew goofing around while shooting the last scene in Damon’s bedroom. Candice King also posted a set photo in her personal Instagram account which was captioned “That’s a wrap on Caroline’s house.”
These are very familiar settings and such posts have no doubt ignited nostalgic feelings among both showrunners and fans. It is saddening to know that this would be the last time that avid followers would see these locations; but “The Vampire Diaries” will always live in the hearts of its fans.
Hearthrob Ian Somerhalder also posted some final set photos in his Instagram account. In one post was a selfie of him and his on-screen brother Paul Wesley, which was captioned “Count down to the end starts now... with these two guys.” Before the shoot ended for good, Plec posted another picture of a slate bearing the words “For Sarah Jones Never Forget” and “Safety On Set In Memory of Sarah Jones,” which was captioned “Last first take of the series.”
“The Vampire Diaries” will air five more episodes before it series finale, which is scheduled for March 10, 2017. The show airs Friday on the The CW in the US. In Australia, it airs on FOX8.
