Verizon-Exclusive Sony Xperia Z3V Gets Major Software Updates
According to Android Central, the software update for the Z3V with build number "23.0.E.1.44"includes an improved NFC and the issues regarding the Lifelog app have already been resolved, plus a whole lot more good news for Z3V owners. The report say that the biggest update is the ability of the device to play HD videos via Google Play Movies.
Updates have also been made to the "oversized email retransmit," which simply means there will be less strain on the user's data allowance when a large-sized email is receive. Data notifications during calls have also been reduced, which means that the device will not buzz so much during phone conversations. Other update also includes visual changes on its font size and layout improvements.
Looking back, the Z3 which was already available in the global market was first offered by T-Mobile in the United States followed by Verizon which had a special variant called the Z3V. The US$199.99 Xperia Z3v has the same display, same processor, and same camera as the Z3. However, the Z3V did not possess Z3's updated design or metal frame and looks more like Xperia Z2 than the current Z3. The device also comes with some of Verizon-specific requirements, like wireless charging and is packed with plenty of bloatware.
Additionally, Z3V is the first Sony smartphone that was made available to Verizon customers since 2011 after the unsuccessful Xperia Play, a smartphone and a gaming device rolled into one. However, reviews say that the Play poorly performed in both aspects.
Sony's Xperia Z3V is powered by 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and a 32GB built-in phone storage plus a microSD slot for more space. Just like the Z3, Verizon's device also sport 5.2-inch LCD screens with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolutions. The Z3V's screen shows-off a bright and crisp display because of Sony's Triluminos Display Technology, Digital Trends reports.
Finally, the new update has been rolled out and should already be available in the device. Xperia Z3V owners who have not received the update can do the change manually by going to the device's Settings and search for Software Update.
