Viber Desktop Now On Windows 8
Viber is now on Windows 8 offering free messaging and VoIP platform to desktop and tablet users on the latest Microsoft OS.
Viber has been quite busy with its revenue-generating features lately but just recently, the company changed its focus with the release of Viber for Windows 8.
The Viber for desktop is particularly crafted for the updated system of the Windows. It is packed with a couple of Windows 8 exclusives that is tied to the lock screen notifications and the live tiles.
As a matter of fact, you can pin Viber conversations to the Start Screen to stay updated with your contacts and you can also snap Viber on the side of your device to continue chatting while you are on other tasks like writing an email or searching the Web. Furthermore, you can also search for contacts with the Search charm, change languages and set Windows 8 Toast Notifications to make sure that you would not miss a message or a call, not to mention that Viber's stickers are also included.
"This is the natural next step for Viber following our support for Windows Phone 8, bringing a fully compatible and custom designed version of Viber to Microsoft's touch-friendly OS," CEO Talmon Marco said.
In July, Viber launched a new version of the Windows Phone 8 application with a mobile-specific UI, native call screen and support, bug fixes and performance enhancements.
"Windows 8 is an exciting platform to develop for, and brings a whole new set of UI elements and unique functionality to Viber for the first time," Marco further said. "We are excited to support Viber users on Windows 8 and this is part of our commitment to wide, cross platform availability."
The new app offers flawless call transfers and integration between desktop and mobile versions of the messaging service.
Currently, Viber for Windows 8 is available in the Windows app store for free download.
Meanwhile, Viber also introduced its new calling feature called Viber Out. This new feature allows users to make budget-friendly calls to landlines and mobile phones all over the world and it also works even for non-Viber users.
