Gamers may fondly recall that some of the video games they have played across the years have already gone a long way. A video showcasing snippets of this evolution was uploaded to YouTube and has gone viral. The viral video was accompanied by Triforcefilm's acapella music throughout the 16-minute journey of the classic to the hottest video games.

The YouTube video (below) covered some of the famous video games such as "Pacman," "Super Mario Bros.," " The Legend of Zelda," "Dragon Warrior," "Tetris" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles." The video also featured "Sonic the Hedgehog," "Doom," "Super Metroid," "Pokemon," "Resident Evil" and "Final Fantasy VII." There were also game highlights shown from "Zelda," "Metal Gear," "Halo," "The Elders Scroll IV Oblivion" and "Uncharted Drake's Fortune."

The classic "Pacman" game which debuted in 1980 was developed by Namco. It has appealed to both men and women. To play "Pacman," gamers need to move the arrow keys up, down or sideways to avoid the ghosts. Once a player gets a power up, he or she can turn around and catch the ghost instead.

The video also showed another classic game, "Super Mario Bros." from Nintendo. This game was launched in Japan 1985 and made its way to Australia in 1987. To play the game, a player just needs to control Mario. The game is also available in two-player version wherein gamers will need to control Mario and his brother Luigi. The characters are set on an adventure to the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue the princess. A decade later, "Super Mario 64" was released.

Nintendo is also the publisher of the game "The Legend of Zelda" and "Dragon Warrior" which were both released in 1986. It is also the publisher of "Tetris" which were was released in 1989. Another game, "Super Metroid," was released in 1994 from the same publisher.

Also in 1989, Konami launched the game "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" which also became a huge hit. Almost three decades down the road, Michael Bay will be releasing a movie on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." The film will hit the cinemas on Aug. 8.

Meanwhile, Sega debuted "Sonic the Hedgehog" in 1991. Two years after "Doom" was born from ID Software.

With the advent of 3D, the video games followed suit. 3D Realms launched "Duke Nukem 3D" in 1996. In the same year, Nintendo debuted "Pokemon" while Capcom released "Resident Evil."

Video games continued to evolve in the 2000 era. Microsoft released "Halo Combat Evolved" in 2001 for computers. Namco also debuted Katamari Damacy in 2004 for Playstation. Finally, 2K Games launched "The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion" in 2006.
