Viral Video: Mobile Phone Footage Leads to Arrest of Florida Road Rage, Tailgating Driver
A one-minute, 57-second video titled Redneck Road Rage/Instant Karma posted on YouTube by a female Florida driver has turned viral on the popular video sharing site. In just six days since it was posted, the video has logged more than 10.6 million hits.
The video showed the truck initially tailgating a car driven by the woman. Probably irked by the slow speed of the car ahead, the male truck driver - later identified as 33-year-old Jeffery White - overtook the car which tried to catch up.
But Mr White drove faster past the car, flashed a dirty finger at the female driver and sped away.
However, seconds after, the video shows the truck skidding and hit a berm then a loud thud is heard, followed by laughter of the woman and her remark, "That's what you get, buddy."
The female driver later submitted the video to WTSP which authorities used to identify the truck driver based on the vehicle's licence plate number caught in the video.
Mr White was charged with reckless driving, leaving the accident scene and failure to wear a seatbelt, adding to the woes of his instant karma of damaging his truck.
The female driver told WTSP, "It was my instinct to just grab my phone and start recording." She admitted later feeling bad for laughing at Mr White's misfortune, but pointed out "But at the same time, it's kind of funny."
