‘The Voice’ season 9 premiere highlights: Kota Wade, Jordan Smith and Siahna Im all gave a harmonious start to the blind auditions
The premiere of the ninth season of the hit American show “The Voice” turned out to be a huge event owing to the talented contestants who took part in the first blind auditions of this season. Judges Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton also welcomed fellow judge Gwen Stefani back in the panel. Stefani returned to the show after a taking a brief break from it.
“The Voice” Season 9 premiere, which kept the audience glued to their TV sets, was filled with high-energy performances not only from the contestants but also from the judges as well. Shelton sang No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” while Stefani picked Shelton’s “Neon Light.” Meanwhile, Levine performed Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” As for Williams, he chose to sing Maroon 5’s “Sugar.” Then, they all sang together afterwards.
It was a fun-filled show with the participants performing some foot tapping numbers and luring the judges to recruit them. 23-year-old Kota Wade managed to win a place in Gwen’s team by giving a soulful performance of “Bring It on Home to Me.” Gwen was so impressed with Kota. As for Shelton, he compared Kota to Cyndi Lauper.
Another contestant who performed well in the blind auditions is Jordan Smith. Smith’s spectacular voice made all the judges turn their chairs around to see his face. He performed “Chandelier” by Sia.
“The Voice” 2015 was marked by a mesmerizing performance by 15-year-old Siahna Im. The half Korean-French Canadian teenager from Auburn, Washington managed to cast a spell on the audience by performing Peggy Lee's "Fever.” She eventually became Pharrell Williams’ recruit. Another stellar voice that left the audience awestruck was Braiden Sunshine, also 15, who wanted to be part of Gwen’s team.
Other performers at the "The Voice" Blind Auditions Part 1 include 24-year-old Mark Hood, 23-year-old Nadjah Nicole, 35-year-old Barrett Baber and 34-year-old Keith Semple. Hood sang “Use Me,” while Nicole picked Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope.” Baber performed “Angel Eyes” and chose to be on Blake’s team. Semple sang “I’ll Be There for You” and picked Adam’s team over Gwen’s. Hood wanted to be in Williams’ team, while Nicole chose country coach Shelton.
