Wallet-Friendly ‘Samsung Galaxy Core Prime’ At $151 Features 4.5-Inch Display, Dual-SIM, Snapdragon 410 Chip And 2,000 mAh Battery
Samsung reportedly has released the Galaxy Core Prime smartphone with model number SM-G360 in India, without much ado. The budget-friendly handset is now listed on the Indian e-commerce versions of eBay and Amazon.
Speaking of price, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime will set the buyers back by INR 9,380, which roughly translates to US$151, AU$183 and 96 GBP. When it comes to key specifications, the Galaxy Core Prime features a modest 4.5-inch LCD display, complemented by a WVGA screen resolution of 480 × 800 pixels. And this combination translates to a pixel density of 207 ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410) Cortex-A53 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by a respectable 1 GB of RAM, according to GSM Arena.
As far as the camera configuration goes, there is a 5 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED Flash and autofocus, in addition to a 2 MP front-facing shooter for selfies. Also, the device is 0.35-inch thick and it weighs only 130 g. Moreover, the device comes equipped with 8 GB of in-built storage capacity, along with microSD card support for expansion up to 64 GB. On the software side, the Galaxy Core Prime runs not on the latest Lollipop OS version, but on Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS.
On the other hand, the handset comes with dual-SIM support and employs micro-SIM type. Plus, it supports the standard connectivity options like Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, HSPA+, NFC and 4G LTE. Lastly, the handset is backed by a good Li-Ion 2,000 mAh battery unit.
In the hindsight, Samsung has released a slew of devices this year, starting from the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy K Zoom, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy Alpha to the Galaxy Note 4. With 2015 just around the corner, the Galaxy Core Prime could possibly be the last device scheduled for 2014. Nonetheless, there is no official information to ascertain the release date of the Core Prime outside Asia. However, Samsung is the only company among the top five to post a negative YOY change this year. This is predominantly because of the competition from other four toppers like Apple, Xiaomi, Lenovo and LG. To further the existing woes, the demand for new devices are also slowing down to a worrisome level, says IDC Research. Will Samsung be able to rise from the ashes next year? Feel free to leave a comment.
