War Of the Apps: Best Apps Of the Week For Your iPhone, iPad And Android
If you are looking for apps for your new iPhone, iPad, Andriod or simply planning to update, here are some of the best apps for the week from Gizmodo.
iPhone Apps
Songkick: Songkick's new version of its iOS app allows a personalized index of upcoming concerts from your favorite artists. It also allows integration of playlists from Spotify alongside your iTunes library.
SkyDrive: The updated SkyDrive is aesthetically designed to fit Apple's latest iOS. It can "automatically upload camera photos straight to Microsoft's SkyDrive Cloud storage." Another clever feature is that it automatically pulls out any text captured in a photo using OCR. Its built-in Smart Search Windows 8.1 will show that text in search results.
Nike+ Move: For all fitness buffs out there, this is the App for you. Nike's brand new fitness app, like all the other Nike fitness apps, turns all your daily activities into "NikeFuel" points. To spark the competitive edge in you, it has game center integration to compare your activity with your friends. This app, however, is only currently available to iPhone 5s.
iPad Apps
Chordana Viewer: Unleash your musicality with Casio's Chordana Viewer. This app scans your music files and turns them into chord charts. The complexity of the track might affect the accuracy of the chords but it allows the user to correct such.
Lego: The Lord of the Rings: If you are "The Lord of the Rings" fan, this game might just be for you. See your favorite characters like Frodo, Legolas and Gandalf in Lego version. The game has about 90 playable characters.
Modernist Cuisine at Home: If you are planning to impress your lover's parents with your culinary expertise, you might want to download this app. There are about 416 recipes to choose from that would satisfy your sensitive palate.
Andriod Apps
Google Text-to-Speech: If you have poor eyesight or you just dig robotic voices, this is the app for you. As the name suggests, this app converts other Android apps' text into speech so you won't need to strain your eyes.
Google Helpouts: This neat application "connects people who need help with people who can give help over live video." It connects you to experts who can help you with matters like beauty, health, nutrition, computers and electronics.
