WATCH: NBA 2K14 Next Gen Trailer Features Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight'
Fans of the NBA 2K franchise are rubbing their hands in excitement over the latest release of the game, NBA 2K14. First released on Oct 1 for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, a "next gen" version will soon be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The latest installment of NBA 2K14, dubbed as the "Next Gen," features crisp new gameplay features, including a "LeBron: Path to Greatness" mode, where one can play LeBron James as he goes about his career. Players can also unleash new, flashy passes in just the click of a trigger, including blind passes. In an effort to make the game as realistic as possible, the "potential" stat now has a limit, unlike in previous NBA 2K releases. This prevents too many players from turning into superstars.
More advanced players can benefit from new singature skills, such as the pre-ordered "Lebron Coast to Coast" skill, where speed, quickness, and ball-handling are improved, "One Man Fastbreak," "Flashy Passe," "Pick Dodger" and "Tenacious Rebounder."
These improvements have made 2K14 receive accolades from industry reviewers, who have praised the game for the new features and mechanics. Players will also welcome the chance to play using Euroleague teams, something that has not been done since NBA Live 10.
LeBron James himself chose the soundtrack for NBA 2K14, featuring an eclectic mix of genres and artists ranging from Coldplay and Daft Punk to Gorillaz, Imagine Dragons, Eminem and Robin Thicke.
Plus, the trailer, featuring Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" gives one a sneak preview of what to expect in the Next Gen version of NBA 2K14 -- clearer graphics, working instant replays, multiple camera angles and improved game play. The Phil Collins song is associated mostly with the 1980s series Miami Vice, and its use in the NBA 2K14 trailer might lead to it becoming popular again.
