Last week was an interesting time frame with the arrival of a new device, accidental confirmation of an anticipated product and a knockoff, which is way cheaper than the original product. Here is a list of such devices which made headlines prior week.

HTC One 'Mini 2' Arrives

HTC has launched the compact version of its flagship HTC One (M8), the 'HTC One Mini 2'. The Mini 2 features a 4.5 inches screen with 720p display resolution and has a metallic body. The handset is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and it comes with 1 GB of RAM. Moreover, this phone is equipped with a 16 GB of internal storage with microSD slot support.

The device houses a 13 MP camera in the rear and a 5 MP 'UltraPixel' front-facing camera. It is worth noting that, there is no duo camera with the compact version. According to HTC, the smartphone can last for up to 16 hours of 3G talk time on its 2,100 mAh battery. The One Mini 2 will be running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 UI on top of it. The device will be available starting June, 2014. The compact version will come in three shades: Gray, Silver, and Gold.

Microsoft Accidentally Confirms 'Surface Pro 3'

Microsoft has scheduled a 'Surface event' for May 20, 2014. According to reports, the company may launch a compact, 8 inches version of the Surface, the "Surface Mini"; in addition to the anticipated Surface Pro tablet, speculated to be "Surface Pro 3."

Microsoft's support page for Windows 8.1 software update had the following words "Surface Pro 3," claims Mashable. The statement, apparently read, "adds support to the Surface Pro 3 camera." Nevertheless, Microsoft claimed that it was a 'typo' and removed those words from its support page. In any case, May 20 is the date to look out for.

Apple iPad Knockoff 'Mi Pad' is Here

The Chinese company Xiaomi launched its first tablet in Beijing recently. Interestingly, the tablet is named as "Mi Pad" which looks like a replica of the Apple "iPad Mini." Similar to iPad Mini, Xiaomi's "Mi Pad" comes with a Retina Display. The tablet has a 7.9 inches screen with a display resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels.

The Android 4.4.2 based device is powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with 2 GB of RAM. The tablet sports an 8 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera. It has a non-removable but solid 6,700 mAh battery unit and it comes in 16GB and 64GB variants. Adding cherry on top, the "Mi Pad" 16 GB costs only $240, while the "iPad Mini" tablet starts at $299.
