Tobey Maguire is totally onboard with young actor Andrew Garfield portraying the role of Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man."

Maguire should know better. He portrayed Parker in three films between 2000 and 2007 with total grosses tallying under $2.5 billion worldwide.

"I was certainly curious as to who was going to play Peter Parker," Maguire told Garfield during a conversation between the two actors which was published in VMan Magazine.

"When I heard it was you, I was literally like, 'F--king perfect!'" Maguire exclaimed. Garfield was cast as the lead in "The Amazing Spider-Man" back in 2010 after a lengthy audition process that included talented young Hollywood stars such as Logan Lerman, Josh Hutcherson and Jamie Bell. While chatting with Maguire, Garfield addressed what he called a weird kind of cattle call.

"I'm friends with a few of the guys who were up for it, and I actually had dinner with Jamie Bell the night of my screen test and his screen test. We compared notes and war stories, and we kind of got past the ridiculousness of it all and thought it would be a nice idea to get everyone together and kind of interview each other about how messed up the process is, being against each other, and remember that we're all in it together, knowing that when you take off that bodysuit someone else is going to be stepping into your sweat immediately after," Garfield shared in the same VMan magazine intrerview.

Garfield had also shared that he is excited about starring as Spider-Man, a character that he has been obsessed with since his youth.

"I needed Spidey in my life when I was a kid, and he gave me hope. In every comic I read, he was living out my and every skinny boy's fantasy of being stronger, of being free of the body I was born into, and that swinging sensation of flight. And upon receiving his power unlike most who have become corrupted, he used it for good. And I think that we all wish we had the courage to stick up for ourselves more, to stick up for a loved one more, or even a stranger you see being mistreated, and Peter Parker has inspired me to feel stronger," Garfield stated.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" which stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Sally Field arrives in Australian theaters on July 4.
