What to Expect from 2012's MacBook Pro
Apple Inc. has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success for the year 2011 due to the new Apple devices it introduced in the market as well as the previous gadgets that were already best-sellers.
One of the most popular Apple devices in the market is Apple's MacBook Pro. Though there were no major significant changes for MacBook, Apple implemented updates in this department that customers still find interesting. Now that 2012 is here, what are the changes that users could expect in Apple's MacBook Pro?
Graphics
Before, Apple's MacBook line sported Nvidia graphics processor. The last MacBook Pro devices that utilized this technology were released last 2010 and these models also had the new proprietary graphics switching technology that Apple developed. Utilizing this technology for Apple's graphics was discontinued as the higher end 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros that were launched in the year 2011 utilized AMD graphics. On the other hand, the 13-inch model utilized integrated Intel graphics. Recent news reports indicate that Apple would once again utilize Nvidia graphics processors in the MacBook Pro models that will be released in the market. These models are expected to roll out during spring and would have a new hardware that would feature Intel's Ivy Bride processors as well as a redesigned chassis that would be more or less similar to the popular MacBook Air models.
Display
In terms of display, there are also recent reports stating that Apple would use Retina Display in the company's MacBook Pro line. This change is said to take effect during the second quarter of 2012. Further details regarding the incorporation of Retina Display was discussed in the report by DigiTimes. According to the report, Apple would release MacBook Pros with a screen resolution of 2800 x 1800 pixels. The incorporation of this technology would mean that screen resolution of MacBook Pro would be doubled. Apple defined Retina Display as "a pixel density so high your eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels." Rumors also suggest that this technology could also be available for the much-anticipated iPad 3 release.
Aside from changes in graphics and display, MacBook Pro is also rumored to have changes in terms of processors especially with ARM processors. These rumors are said to be based on the fact that Apple's iPhone and iPad devices currently has low-cost and low-power ARM processors. Rumors state that the processor change would be effective by the end of 2012 to early 2013.
