Urban Outfitters will stock the item on Dec. 6 through its website, urbanoutfitters.com. The NES Classic Edition will only be sold online and will retail for about US$60 (AU$80). However, a time was not provided by the company, so it is unclear when exactly the device will go on sale. It is likely that the retailer will give little to no warning about this.
Nevertheless, there are ways to keep an eye on the Urban Outfitter’s page without having to manually check it every minute. A service such as Visualping will definitely come in handy, as it will notify the user every time the website is updated with a new product.
The NES Classic Edition is a remake of the 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System, which some have claimed changed gaming for a generation and virtually solidified the Japanese company. It comes preinstalled with 30 of the best retro games, including “Donkey Kong,” “The Legend Of Zelda,” “Final Fantasy” and handful of “Mario” titles. The games were given modern upgrades only in that the pixelated imaged are sharper and brighter.
The reviews on the console have generally been very positive and those who have been fortunate enough to get a unit of the NES Mini are loving it. The console effortlessly delivers on the promise that it has made and users get nothing less than is expected. There are very few concerns -- such as the short-wired controller -- that have already been addressed by third party servicers.
When the NES Classic Edition first went on sale on Nov. 11, various retailers saw their stock reach zero very quickly. Since then, the unit has been hard to find anywhere and eBay prices are in the hundreds. And with Nintendo keeping silent about its restock, the sale from Urban Outfitters might just be the public’s last chance at getting the console before the holidays hit.
