Following release of invitations for their September Event at IFA 2013 press concerence, photos of the upcoming Sony Xperia Honami got leaked. The newest image leaked features the new smartphone compared side by side to Apple's iPhone 5.

Which is the better smartphone?

Chinese forum Digi-Wo posted several images claiming the white version of the Sony Honami. The photos also reveal the device compared with two top rivals: Xperia Z and iPhone 5. Compared to the iPhone 5, the Honami is evidently larger. This does not come as a surprise as Sony indicated previously that the smartphone will have a 5-inch display.

iPhone only has a 4-inch display.

As for the Honami versus Xperia Z, there is only a hairline difference in their height. Honami is slightly taller compared to the 130mm frame of the Xperia Z. The leaked photos are the first one of their kind to hit the internet.

However, it is the first time that it was compares side by side with other competitors. According to the images, the new Sony Xperia Honami will have a two-toned look - for the white version. The two-tone design stays true to what previous Xperia models sported. The rear panel will be in white while the front will be in black.

A close up look at the rear camera of the phone reveals that it comes with Sony's G Lens. The reports about the 20.7 megapixel and 1/2.3-inch sensor may be coming true after all. The other image showing the Honami reveals that there are side-mounted magnetic docking pins found under a series of ports.

Sony will need to make an announcement about the functions of these ports.

Together with the exceptional camera at the back of the smartphone, there are also reports saying the Sony Xperia Honami will be featuring a 5-inch 1080p display along with a 3,000mAh battery and quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. The phone can supposedly shoot 4k videos. Given that Sony can deliver all these reported features then it can be one of the best flagship smartphones for Sony and on the market.

People are waiting for the final details about the phone and its release on the September 4 event. There are a series of other highly anticipated handsets coming so it will be a tough battleground for Sony.
