Far from being the near-dead console that some people expect it to be, Nintendo seems to still be planning a lot of things with its Wii U console, starting with the 50 Unity games currently in development for it.

In an exclusive with Siliconera, senior manager of marketing for Nintendo of America Damon Baker revealed some of the plans that Nintendo has for the Wii U.

"Over the course of this show, we have nine games on display. We have 17 that are currently in the pipeline, that have been submitted. So they will all be out within the next two months," said Mr Baker to Siliconera.

And apart from the mentioned games, it seems that 50 more are waiting to debut, a lot of which will be Unity content. This seems to be the progress of the deal that Unity has with Nintendo way back in 2012.

"Nintendo's unfettered access to Unity will produce a wealth of insanely good games from knowledgeable Nintendo developers and the Wii U deployment add-on will create an amazing opportunity for our massive community of developers to showcase their incredible creativity on one of the most anticipated and innovative gaming platforms to date," said David Helgason, Unity Technologies CEO, to CVG in an earlier interview.

So far, Nintendo has reportedly also considered bringing 3DS support to Unity. And the new games lined up may be the result of the 2012 deal, as well as the fact that the Unity dev kits were also distributed to a number of in-house and third-party developers for Nintendo, reports GameSpot.

Quality of Life Isn't About Shutting Down the Wii U?

Since the Nintendo Redirect that revealed the new Quality of Life plan, people have started to believe that this was the start of the slow death for the Wii U.

The supposed quality of life notion is Nintendo's thrust at moving into the health aspect for its customers via enjoyable means.

"What Nintendo will try to achieve in the next 10 years is a platform business that improves people's QOL in enjoyable ways," said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in a statement quoted by Polygon. "We believe that we can capitalize the most on our strengths through a hardware-software integrated platform business, and therefore this type of dedicated video game platforms will remain our core focus," he added.

It's easy to picture the Wii Fit getting the center of attention for this health-focused approach, but Nintendo has not yet revealed more details related to the QOL plan.

Game Boy Advance Title Coming to Wii U Virtual Console

Nintendo has already announced the start of Game Boy Advance games churning out to the Wii U via the Virtual Console come April, and the first title to start this process has already been revealed.

VG 24/7 reports that "Advance Wars" has been identified by Nintendo UK as the first title, with "Super Mario Ball" and "Pac-Man Collection" possibly facing release shortly afterwards.
