PS4 News: PS Plus and The Drop Updates and 3 New Games Coming
If you're addicted to the Monster Hunter franchise, you may want to check out the newest addition for the PS Plus. Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite is dropping into the PS Plus as a free download for members starting March 25.
According to the PlayStation Blog, this is said to be the biggest Monster Hunter title, as it boasts of more than 500 hours of gameplay, more than 1,400 weapons and 2,000 armour sets for character customization, and the ability to have up to four players via Ad-Hoc play for social gaming.
What's more, if you've been playing Monster Hunter Freedom 2, you can also transfer your data from that series onto the other game. Alongside the Monster Hunter announcement, there's also the Spring Fever to check out which lists a number of discounts for games including Fez and titles from the BioShock franchise.
The Drop scheduled for the week
It's time for another round of games coming in with The Drop for the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita, with forerunner puzzler Fez coming to all three platforms as a digital cross buy. The PS4 is also getting Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition, which also has a version for the PS Vita.
For the PS3, you can expect a number of games to make the drop, including BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, Cabela's Big Game Hunter: Pro Hunts, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, and The Witch and the Hundred Knight.
Deception IV: Blood Ties is also coming to the PS3 as well as the PS Vita, while the PS Vita gets Destiny of Spirits. Check out what each game is all about over at the PlayStation Blog.
Three games coming to the PS4
The PS4 is also looking at a number of slated releases, starting with the announced The Chainsaw Incident. Speaking with Origo Games CEO Adam McClard, Gamingbolt discusses how The Chainsaw Incident will be only for the PS4.
"Microsoft has so many requirements to self-publish on the platform, including marketing requirements," he said to Gamingbolt. "The game will be free to play, and we are not planning a boxed version unless the funding goal is met on Kickstarter."
This means that the PS4 and PS Vita will have an exclusive fighter game that runs at 1080p and 60fps, with plans of going on 4K when given the chance later on.
Another game coming, this time to the PS4 and PS3, is OlliOli from developer roll7. Announced on the PlayStation Blog, it seems that team have gathered together and started working on the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game after partnering with BlitWorks from Spain.
"We already have a first playable version up and running on PS4 and a big screen--it's like our little OlliOlli grew up and got some balls! Really feels amazing on DualShock, too," said Simon Bennet of roll7.
The game is already out on the PS Vita, but the hint that it will remain an "PS Vita exclusive until summer 2014" gives a hint on when OlliOlli's PS3 and PS4 versions may roll in. No update yet on whether crossbuy will become available.
Lastly, Devolver Digital, publisher of the PS3 original game Hotline Miami has announced that the game will be coming to the PS4as a cross-buy, meaning if you already own either the PS3 or the PS4 version, you won't have to pay anything to get the game.
According to Joystiq, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is also going to both PS4 and PS Vita, and will also debut on the Windows PC, Mac and Linux. Of course, the violent vibe of the game will be retained.
As for the details, there are no announcements yet, but PAX East is a great place to tune in to, since the show will be shown off during this event.
