Will Google Nexus 6 Be Google's Last Phone?
Nexus 5 has enticed fans with its cutting edge vanilla Android experience as it ushered in Android 4.4 KitKat with a sexy Google Experience Launcher. This year, the next Nexus device will come to surprise us all again, but this might be the last phone we're seeing from Google.
Nexus smartphones, originally conceptualized as reference devices to inspire manufacturers, have evolved beyond driving down prices and raising expectations. With the presence of Google Play Edition flagship smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, another Nexus device might not be necessary anymore. But it doesn't follow that fans don't want another Nexus device to come soon.
It was rumored that another Google flagship smartphone will be out, probably Google Nexus 6 in 2014 after the success of Nexus 5. Google Nexus 6 is likely to roll out in autumn, most probably toward the end of the year. After that, we can expect Google to revamp the name of its devices because there is already a Nexus 7 in the market.
Back when the Google Nexus 5 was launched, it was considered the most budget-friendly flagship smartphone with brilliant hardware configuration and killer specs.
Both Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 were launched in dates falling in November. Nexus 6 is assumed to be launched late in October. But these reports must be taken with a grain of salt until Google makes an official announcement regarding the matter.
Google Nexus 6 is expected to be powered by True Octa-core 2.4 GHz processor, up to 4 GB RAM, 20 MP ultra-low light sensitivity camera sensor, 5.2 inches 2K UHD display, 3100 mAh battery in 64 GB and 128 GB memory variants.
Also, additional rumored killer specs such as security sensor, finger print sensor, thermo sensor, atmosphere sensor and health monitor might be seen with Google Nexus 6. These are just rumours and nothing is made official by Google yet.
According to an internal leak via the Web site Tech Thirsty, Google Nexus 6 might be the final smartphone of the Google Nexus series.
