Big players like Apple, Google and Amazon have launched their own apps for convenient music storage. Apple launched iTunes Match, Google opened up Google Music, and Amazon offered Amazon Cloud Drive. With the launch of these music-related options, how do you know that you are choosing the right one?

These additions allow users to buy songs from a wide selection of music and then store the songs on remote computers, from which users can stream the music wirelessly to their other devices. All companies are offering a lot more than this kind of service so it is better to review all the options first before choosing.

iTunes Match

Apple recently launched iTunes Match, and it comes with a fee of US$25 annually. It matches the songs that users have in their iTunes folders on their personal devices with copies of the same songs that Apple has already stored in the cloud. (It should be noted that Apple's music files are stored in a format that is of superior quality to the mp3 format.) Users could store up to 250,000 songs that are already in their collection, as well as an unlimited number of songs purchased from iTunes. Aside from that, users could instantly access the songs from different Apple devices without the need of wires. This app is more for downloading, and the streaming option is not available. Users need to have the Apple iOS 5 in order for iTunes to function properly in this capacity.

Google Music

The same principle in iTunes match also applies with Google music: uploading music into Google's cloud. The only difference here is that Google does not contain songs that are preloaded, so uploading songs could take longer. This service does not come with a fee (downloading purchased songs are a different matter), and users could store up to 200,000 songs. Google Music is compatible with Android-based devices and users could access this simply by just downloading it. Streaming is available for Google Music and users could also have the option to share it with friends through Google+ -- and they could get one full listen for free.

Amazon Cloud Drive

The Amazon Cloud Drive is an app that was supposed to complete Kindle Fire in regards to its music requirements. Even though that is the case, this app could still work well in Android-based devices. Cloud storage for Amazon could store up to 1,250 songs which is less than what iTunes Match and Google Music offers. Amazon has a wide selection of songs that could be compared to Apple's iTunes, but the amount of time needed to upload music for Amazon cloud could also be extensive, a situation that is similar to Google Music. Streaming music is also an option available for Amazon Cloud Drive.

So far, iTunes Match is the only one requiring a fixed cost for its service, and this is justifiable since the uploading time and the wide selection of songs is worth the fee. Despite that, some people are more inclined to use the free services offered with Google Music and Amazon Cloud Drive, especially if they have Android-based devices. The winner for the cloud battle is still undetermined as these applications are just released in the market and users are taking their time to make their decisions regarding this matter.
