A picture posted by Nokia on Twitter is taunting Samsung to a challenge. It shows a Samsung smartphone broken in half with a caption "Have a break, have a ..." The unusually aggressive tweet has the Internet buzzing.

The tweet comes after news broke that Microsoft is buying the Nokia mobile phone business. Fans reminded this fact to Nokia in their tweets for the picture.

@NokiaHomebase and that tweet is coming from a company that won't exist anymore in 2014? I guess that bottom 2% burns eh!!??!!

A recent add on YouTube showed a Kit Kat ad more like a smart phone than a chocolate. The reference in the video was obviously to the upcoming Android version 4.4 called as "Kit Kat."

Both Nestle and Google seem to be heading for a huge Kit Kat branding. The term will now be applicable to both Android powered smartphones as well as the popular chocolate bar.

Even the Kit Kat web site has the look and feel of a smartphone web site. The Web site showcases the chocolate coming with a "world renowned, tri-core" meaning that the chocolate will come in three layers. Smartphones usually come with a dual core processor, big screen displays and massive storage.

The chocolate is also said to come with a "wafer thin CPU with full chocolate coverage." The chocolate is said to be "Cloud based," the Web site claims that the taste will send a person up in "TheCloud."

With so much time, money and effort going into the branding exercise the joke played by Nokia may not go down well with Google or Samsung.

There is some speculation that this may be a taste of things to come. Microsoft will need to aggressively combat the Android domination in the smartphone market. Is this the beginning of an impending social media battle between the two software giants? Time will tell.

Samsung on the other hand recently launched three devices at an event in Berlin. The three devices were - Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the smart watch Galaxy Gear and the tablet Galaxy Note 10.1.

The picture of a Samsung smartphone breaking may not go unnoticed by the company. Media pundits feel that if Google, Nestle and Samsung collectively respond - it may bring a great amount of publicity to Nokia.

The company, however, is a well known brand and may not need the negative publicity to gain popularity. But people in the social media eagerly wait to see if the war of words will intensify between Nokia and Samsung over Kit Kat.
