Will Smith Claims Showbiz Industry is ‘Like a Drug’ Introduced to His Son, Jaden Smith

Hollywood actor Will Smith has already been in the showbiz industry for over 20 years and now his son, Jaden Smith, is pursuing an acting career. The 44-year-old "Men in Black" star shows that he is still a supportive father although he is concerned about his children being thrown into the limelight.

Will Smith claims that allowing his children, 14-year-old Jaden and 12-year-old Willow, enter the showbiz world is "almost like introducing them to drugs" because being a Hollywood star draws the media attention all of the time which can be too much for the young Smiths to handle.

''I think that the major risk of this particular business is strictly emotional. The business has almost a narcotic quality. 'It's almost as if you're introducing a narcotic into your kid's life," the Smith patriarch revealed.

Additionally, Will Smith maintains that he is not shoving his kids to stardom but only offers a helping hand for Jaden and Willow to succeed in their preferred career.

"It may seem like we have pushed our kids into the business but that is absolutely insane. I would never, ever, push somebody to have their face on a poster that's going be everywhere in the world," the actor affirmed.

At the tender age of 7, Jaden Smith first appeared with his superstar father in the film "The Pursuit of Happyness." The father-and-son pair worked together again for their latest movie project, the sci-fi film titled "After Earth."

When asked if he would work again with his father in upcoming films, Jaden answered yes. "You know, how Johnny Depp and Tim Burton always do movies together, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio? We'll have a relationship like that," Jaden shared.

The Smith family's personal life has been under the media scrutiny for years but Will Smith assures that they are still a normal family despite the fame, wealth and success. "I think that if you were to come to the house, people would really be ­surprised at how simple and basic it is," Will Smith stated.

Will Smith and Jaden Smith are currently having fun and spending quality time with each other at the press tour of "After Earth." The film's Australian release date is scheduled on June 13, 2013.
