Windows 10 To Arrive By Late Or Early Summer, All Lumia Devices On WP 8 And 8.1 To Get Upgraded To Windows 10
Microsoft had first announced the Windows 10 OS in September this year. It had also revealed that the new OS would release in late 2015. Now, Kevin Turner, the CFO with Microsoft has declared that a developer preview edition would arrive first in early summer before the final edition will be released by late summer and early fall.
PhoneArena states that Microsoft is currently testing the Windows 10 for smartphone. According to IBTimes post published in November, Microsoft is going to phase out the Windows Phone OS and all the existing Lumia running on Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 will be upgraded to Windows 10. It was announced through the official Twitter account of Lumia. PhoneArena even claims that the non-Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices may also receive the update but there is no official confirmation on it.
According to ZDNet, Microsoft will showcase the first preview version of the Windows 10 mobile SKU in late January 2015. It will not only support smartphones running on Windows Phones but also it will support ARM tablets and Intel tablets. The Windows 10 edition designed for mobile devices will not feature a desktop but the current preview edition of Windows 10 does feature it and will come along when the final edition is made public.
The photo added on the PhoneArena's post includes texts 'One product family', 'One platform' and 'One Store. It shows that all the future Microsoft products in 2015 will be shipped with Windows 10 OS. Even though Microsoft will roll out different kinds of products like desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones next year with the new Windows 10 OS, it will appear slightly unique on all the devices.
According to another post published by IBTimes in the previous month on the unannounced Microsoft Lumia 940, it is rumoured to be the first handset to feature the Windows 10 OS. The Lumia 940 is speculated to come with 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 805 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 24 MP PureView technology enabled rear camera, 5 MP front camera and more. Though the tech world is talking about the handset, its existence has not been confirmed officially.
