Windows 10 Build 9901 Surfaces, Leaked Images Show New Features Of Windows 10 Like Cortana, Xbox App, OneDrive Integration And More
Windows 10 with build 9901 has been leaked and it is available on the internet for download. Unlike the build 9834 that surfaced from China in the previous week, the build 9901 is newer and packed with enhanced features. The Windows 10 build 9901 is a prerelease operating system. One of the most striking features of this build is the inclusion of Cortana. The Collection Book has all the leaked images of Windows 10 of build 9901 which showcases all the new features of Windows 10 OS.
Cortana Comes To Desktop
For the first time Windows 10 will bring Cortana to desktop PCs. According to The Verge, Cortana, the voice assistant service from Microsoft will be present on the search interface of Windows 10. The digital assistant is not fully functional on the leaked build but when the final build arrives, Cortana will work a lot like the way it functions on Windows Phone like responding to voice commands and accessing interests, notebook, reminders and so on.
Xbox App
The other major inclusion in the Windows 10 build 9901 is the Xbox app but it is only available in the form of sneak peak in this new build. The Verge adds that it will allow users to access the Xbox Store and view achievements, feeds and friends lists. When the final build arrives, the Xbox app will also feature SmartGlass, a companion application which makes it possible to use mobile devices powered with Windows as second displays and remote controller.
Other Enhancements
The Verge has further revealed that the Windows 10 will come with an enhanced TaskView switcher. The Settings app will sport the traditional appeal of Control Panel. Interesting thing to note is that Charms bar has been removed. Neowin states that the icons for the deskop and user interface have a modern design appeal. The 9901 build comes with new beta version of Windows Store app which now includes music, films and TV shows along with apps and games. According to Winsupersite, the Windows 10 9901 build is plagued with bugs. Anyone who installs this edition will not be able to receive technical preview build upgrades in future.
PC World states the new Windows 10 will come with plenty of desktop-centric features compared to previous editions like Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. As of now, Windows 10 Technical Preview is available for developers.
The arrival of build 9901 indicates that Microsoft is consistently tweaking the new OS and enhancing it. On Jan 21, 2015 Microsoft is going to showcase the final build called the Windows 10 Consumer Preview to the masses through the event "Windows 10: The Next Chapter" and it will finally release in the middle of 2015.
