Microsoft officially rolled out the build 10051 of the Windows 10 for phones preview, very recently. However, users of the Microsoft Lumia 520, Lumia 525 and Lumia 526 smartphones should note that, the new Windows 10 for phones preview build 10051 is currently not available for download. Microsoft has apparently “paused/stayed” the update from circulation for the said handsets.

Reportedly, the Windows 10 for phones preview build 10051 has been pulled out because of the problems pertaining to “reverting back to Windows Phone 8.1 OS.” It is worth noting that, many Lumia 520, Lumia 525 and Lumia 526 smartphone users apparently complained that their handsets were bricked the moment they reverted back to Windows Phone 8.1, notes Windows Central. Notably, the Lumia users were utilising the Windows Phone Recovery Tool after downloading and installing the Windows 10 for phones preview.

Furthermore, Microsoft has confirmed the persisting problems with the Windows 10 build via its official forum. The forum says the following: “We are seeing some reports of failures on Lumia 520/525/526 devices when trying to roll back to Windows Phone 8.1 using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool. We are pausing build availability for these devices temporarily while we investigate the issue and work with customers who have reported problems.”

On the other hand, users of the build 10051 specific to the Windows 10 for phones preview have reportedly faced several other issues surrounding the update. Notably, the official Windows Blog site has a list of such known issues highlighted and in the meantime, readers can sample some of the noted issues here:

Microsoft says, users that downloaded the latest build might see situations where auto-upload of the Camera Roll to OneDrive might not work as expected. The company also warns the Lumia users to take a back up of all the photos in case they are planning to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool in order to revert back to Windows Phone 8.1.

As the Office Hub has reportedly been removed from the build 10051, Lumia users will not be able to open MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Instead, the Windows 10 preview version of the universal Office apps will apparently be sent out in the following weeks.

Plus, interactions with Cortana via Bluetooth will reportedly not work in this build. This means, dictating messages, reading text messages and starting searches, among others will not work.

Furthermore, after upgrading to the Windows 10 build, certain apps that were installed on the microSD memory card will apparently not launch. In order to resolve this problem, Lumia users may have to uninstall and reinstall the apps once again.
