Windows Phone users can now play Angry Birds
Windows phone users who have long wanted to demolish those pigs will finally have a chance to do as Windows Phone 7 will finally have the Angry Birds app.
The app that has every other smartphone user tied up for hours hit the Windows Phone Marketplace "a few hours ahead of schedule".
At least ahead of schedule for Windows phone users because for everyone else on other smartphones Angry Birds have been available since December in 2009. Windows promised its users that it would have the popular app available last fall when it advertised the Angry Birds logo with other apps on the Windows Phone page. This was apparently done without the permission from Rovio, the developers of Angry Birds who tweeted that they hadn't committed to making the game available for Windows Phone 7 and that, "Microsoft put the Angry Birds icon on their site without our permission," according to a Time Magazine report.
Now nearly two years later the app is now available for patient Windows Phone subscribers. The "ahead of schedule" statement was in reference to the app being a few hours ahead of what was originally scheduled.
Having one of the most popular apps out there available for Windows Phone will give consumers another reason to support the OS. The smartphone market is rapidly turning into an iOS versus Android debate and having a third party crash the market could only be good for the consumers. Plus now Windows Phone users will finally realize what a huge excuse for procrastination the Angry Birds game can be.
Angry Birds is available for $3 in the Windows Phone Marketplace with a free trial available.
