Woman Falls 115ft To Death After Posing Near Cliffside To Celebrate End Of Lockdown

A Kazakhstan woman fell to her death while attempting to pose for a photo near the edge of a Turkish cliff to commemorate the end of the local coronavirus lockdown.

Olessia Suspitsina, 31, and her friend were visiting Duden Park, a picturesque location in Turkey’s Antalya city, as part of their long-awaited hiking endeavor, after the city’s shelter-in-place order was well over.

According to local reports,the tragedy struck when Suspitsina climbed over a safety barrier and asked her friend to take a photo while she stood on the cliff’s edge towering over the coastline in Muratpaşa. Unfortunately, she lost her footing and plunged 115 feet to her death while her male friend, identified as Larysa Kamalova, looked on.

The duo had purchased alcohol before the incident and Kamalova was found to be under the influence.

"We came to the park in the evening, we drank wine," Kamalova told News 1. "Then we were talking to a friend with a video. When Olesia was talking on video, she asked me to take a picture of herself."

Authorities responded after Kamalova raised alarm, who then located Suspitsina’s body in the waters while conducting a search by boat, and identified her. Her remains were transported to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute.

Her grieving relatives said police ruled the victim’s death an accident, adding that she was a “smart and cheerful person,” and would accomplish anything that she set her heart to, according to Daily Mail.

Suspitsina, who reportedly worked as a tour guide for five years in the region, was seasoned with clicking photos from seemingly deadly heights in picturesque locations. She previously wrote in a now-private Instagram post that she would “always admire the beauty of the Turkish nature. This is my paradise.”

In January, a British model-cum-backpacker Madalyn Davis plunged 100 feet to her death from a cliff in Sydney, Australia. She was watching the sunrise while sitting on a fence located at the edge of the cliff before her tragic fall.
