‘The X Factor Australia' Elimination Prediction: Brothers 3 To Get Boot Monday Night, According To Betting Odds
It’s “The X Factor Australia” elimination night on Monday starting at 7:30 pm in Australia even as judges Ronan Keating, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Redfoo, and Dannii Minogue had their hands full in Sunday’s Power and Passion themed performance of Marlisa Punzalan, Dean Ray, Reigan Derry and Brothers 3.
The judges now hope that their respective decisions will be reflected by the public opinion and “The X Factor Australia’ fans can still back their favourite singers by voting via calls or SMS.
But which act is favoured by the sports books for Week 10 of the competition? Sports/entertainment betting odds are not surefire way to predict who will be eliminated but it’s a good gauge to establish which acts are virtually safe considering how the wagering lines are skewed to their favour.
“The X Factor Australia” Next Eliminated Contestant Betting Odds
Brothers 3 (1.60)
Marlisa Punzalan (3.85)
Reigan Derry (4.25)
Dean Ray (13.00)

For the uninitiated in sports/entertainment betting, the simple formula is as follows: X (Amount of Bet) times Betting Odds = Payout
As an example here are the exact gains if a bettor will back either contestants (using a $100 bet as an example); for Brothers 3, a $100 bet earns $160 or $60 winnings; for Marlisa Punzalan, a $100 bet earns $385 or $285 winnings; for Regian Derry, a $100 bet earns $425 or $325 winnings; and for Dean Ray, a $100 earns a whopping $1,300 or $1,200 winnings!
Clearly and barring any late surprises Dean Ray (backed by Bassingthwaighte) is safely through to Grand Final while Punzalan (backed by Keating) and Derry (backed by Redfoo) have slightly better odds than the ultimate underdog this week, Brothers 3 (backed by Minogue).
The higher the payout (in this case, Dean Ray’s) means the safer he/she is through to advance and the lower the odds (in this case, Brothers 3’s) signals the immediate danger of getting eliminated on Monday night.
How the Betting Lines Reflected the Judges' Opinion on Sunday’s Power and Passion on "The X Factor Australia"
(All quotes from this “The X Factor Australia” Sunday recap by IBT Australia's Anne Lu)
“I don’t feel vocally the quality was good enough, personally. We got to be tough now. It wasn’t up to scratch,” Ronan said of Brothers 3’s rendition of One Direction’s “Best Song Ever”. Brothers 3 picked the Bee Gee’s”Massachusetts" as their second song, which was also met with criticisms by most of the judges, except obviously, Minogue.
Meanwhile, Reigan Derry sang Shakira’s "Can't Remember to Forget You” and Paloma Faith’s "Only Love Can Hurt Like This” and had mixed reviews from the judges but most were in agreement that Derry deserved a spot in the final.
“Great vocal. Loved the way you delivered that. I thought it was great. The only thing is I wish you got into it a little more with your body language and communication just a little more to give it that extra oomph. But that vocal was spot on,” Redfoo said of the 15-year-old Punzalan’s performance with her interpretation of Alicia Key’s “Girl on Fire” and James Arthur’s “Impossible”.
For the odds-on favourite to win the title at this point of the competition, Dean Ray’s performance was met with praise from all over with Ronan describing him as “incredibly unique” and Minogue agreeing that “it would be a crime if [Dean Ray] is not in the final.”
Despite the odds, Brothers 3 still have a chance to recover and stay alive to challenge for “The X Factor Australia” title with a good performance in the final showdown on Monday night— most likely, as per the wager lines, against Marlisa Punzalan.
Can underdogs Brothers 3 pull off the surprise? Or is the final three— Marlisa Punzalan, Reigan Derry and Dean Ray for the Grand Final indeed set already?
