‘X-Factor USA’: Top Reasons Cheryl Cole Seeks Revenge as She Steps Up Compensation Bid in Continued Legal Battle For Embarrassing Departure in 2011
Former X-Factor USA judge Cheryl Cole is not letting the show’s officials off the hook as of yet. The singer is seeking more compensation for her embarrassing departure after a short stint as the show’s judge in 2011.
The 30-year-old singer from Newcastle (U.K.) continues to fight the show and insists on getting payment even for her contract in Season 2 (2012) despite her non-appearance throughout the season.
Recent reports claim that Cherly has more demands than anticipated. In addition to her Season 2 fees, the Fight for This Love singer wants to open more books of the show’s other judges in an effort to seek knowledge of their respective fees, suspecting that she had been treated differently from her fellow judges, particularly Paula Abdul and L.A. Reid and of course, media mogul, Simon Cowell.
Blue Orbit officials insist that Cheryl was never mistreated in context of the show’s other judges. Though she was paid full for the first season, she wants to receive fees for the second season even if she never attended and participated in a single episode. A Los Angeles judge had earlier approved of Cheryl’s request to read the contracts signed by other panelists.
"Those papers could be the smoking gun if she can show others have been treated differently to her. The confidentially of discovery order means much of his testimony is unlikely to become public. Had it not been signed, the trial would have been the most explosive reality show trial," a source said, according to SheKnows.com
And nothing is stopping Cheryl, who appeared sure of what she’s doing, and what she’s getting herself into, even prepared to pay $1.5 million in legal fees for the case she is pursuing. Cheryl is even aware that she will pay additional expenses for Blue Orbits if she failed to prove her case and win the battle after her embarrassing dismissal from the show.
The source also said, “This paperwork is a clear sign that Cheryl wants her day in court. She is pushing for full fees … $3.3 million legal fees and a bonus, which could total over $5 million, Cheryl will learn what Simon earned and her co-stars, too."
Will Cherly have a day in court? Will she call Simon Cowell as her main witness? Will the legal scandal do ‘X-Factor’ USA any good?
Chery Cole was a judge at show’s British edition from 2008 to 2010. She was fired from the U.S. version shortly after sitting the judge panel in 2011.
