“X-Men: Apocalypse” will reportedly be Nicholas Hoult’s last film under the “X-Men” franchise. The actor has recently confirmed that he will no longer be reprising his role as Hank McCoy in future “X-Men” films.

E! Online’s Marc Malkin caught up with Nicholas Hoult, who plays “X-Men’s” Beast, at the South by Southwest Film Festival over the weekend, where he was asked about the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse.” However, the actor didn’t provide production details but instead reminisced on his involvement in the previous “X-Men” films. He also mentioned his exit from the franchise, saying “X-Men: Apocalypse” is the last film he’s “signed up for.”

However, the actor’s future with the “X-Men” franchise reportedly all depends on the movie’s script. Nicholas Hoult is not against playing Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast again since he said he had enjoyed playing the character. "It's like, 'Wow, people really want to see the films' and the best thing is it's a great crew and cast to work with and he's a fun character. I have a good time playing him so I'd keep making them,” he told Malkin during the opening party for Boffin's Lab Powered by Jaguar and Wired Insider at the festival.

Nicholas Hoult first starred as the mutant superhero in “X-Men: First Class” then he went on to reprise his role as Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” “Apocalypse” will be his third and possibly last film depends on how the third movie tells his character’s story.

In an interview with Collider, producer and writer Simon Kinberg said “X-Men: Apocalypse” will focus on Beast and Mystique’s (Jennifer Lawrence) love story. Their relationship wasn’t fully explored in “Days of Future Past” and Kinberg thought it would be interesting to finally focus on it in the third film.

Kinberg also somehow confirmed Nicholas Hoult’s statements about “X-Men: Apocalypse” being his last film. The writer revealed “Apocalypse” will be the final trilogy for those First Class characters, including Beast, saying the third film will be the “completion of an arc for them.” However, it reportedly doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t be featured again in future “X-Men” films.
