'X-Men: Apocalypse': Olivia Munn teases Psylocke's skills in karate
Olivia Munn has been prepping up for her role as the mutant Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The actress has been using social media to update fans on her preparation for the film. She once again took to her Instagram page to reveal that she has been practicing karate in keeping with Psylocke’s skills.
Munn shared a video on her Instagram displaying her great physique and flexibility during a karate sparring match. She posted the clip on Sunday and it has since received over 27,000 likes as of this writing.
Comic Book Movie claims the actress is teasing an impressive action sequence involving Psylocke in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” She is reportedly also really taking the “physical elements” of her mutant character seriously.
The 35-year-old admitted in her cover interview for the August issue of Good Housekeeping that she and her four other siblings grew up learning karate starting at the age of five until they were about 16 years old. They were reportedly not allowed to stop practicing until they each have achieved black belts. Despite the strict practice, Munn had gained some lessons from the experience.
“The things that stayed with me the most from that training were the discipline not to give up when something feels too hard and the confidence that comes from knowing that if I keep working hard, I'll achieve my goal, even if it feels impossible,” she revealed.
In the same interview with the publication, Munn also shared some details about her preparation for her role in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The actress revealed that she has been hitting the gym for a two-hour workout just to get in shape for her role as Psylocke. She also shared how she loves her mutant character’s strong personality since “she has no problem battling and killing.”
In the Marvel comics, Psylocke not only possesses telepathic powers but is also a martial arts expert and a marked swordsman. In this video Munn shared on her Instagram page on June 29, the actress could be seen working on her character’s skills with the sword. She captioned the clip, “learned some new tricks” and it has since received over 46,000 likes.
