‘X-Men: First Class’ Annabelle Wallis Joins Charlie Hunnam in Guy Ritchie’s ‘King Arthur’
BBC’s “Peaky Beans” star Annabelle Wallis joins Guy Ritchie’s ensemble cast for “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur,” a remake of the classic Arthurian tale. The British actress is set to play Maid Maggi, the last that see Charlie Hunnam’s King Arthur as the man who will pull the magical sword Excalibur form the stone.
The “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” follows a story of a young Arthur Pendragon who is unaware of the life he was born until he grasps hold the sword Excalibur.
“Instantly challenged by the sword’s power, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices,” according to the film’s synopsis. “Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern — who murdered his parents and stole his crown — and become king.”
Best known for her role as Jane Seymour in Showtime’s period drama “The Tudors,” Wallis also stars in ABC’s drama “Pan Am” and played as Mia in the supernatural horror film “Annabelle.” The 30-year-old star is currently filming Louis Letterier’s “Grimsby” with Sacha Baron Cohen (“Borat”) and Mark Strong.
The actress will also be seen alongside Armie Hammer in the upcoming movie “Mine,” to be directed by Fabio Resinaro and Fabio Guaglione. Her other film credits include “X-Men: First Class” as Amy, “Show White and the Huntsman” as Sara and “Hello Carter” as Kelly.
Set to premiere on July 22, 2016, the “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” also stars Eric Bana as King Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon. British actor Jude Law will play the villainous Vortigern, while Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt (“The Hobbit”) as Kjartan – another villain in the story who will be working with Vortigern.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tide” star Astrid Berges-Frisbey is set to play Arthur’s love interest, Guienvere, while Djimon Hounsou (“Black Diamond”) will play one of Arthur’s trusted knight. “Game of Thrones” star Aiden Gillen (Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish) is also set to join the cast but still no news about his character.
