December may be a month of holiday sales and discounts for the Xbox One, but January 2015 is even more of a month to look forward to. Something big may be brewing over at the Xbox headquarters-as early as now, there are already little clues teased by Microsoft.

Come Jan. 21, there will be a Windows 10 event happening over at the Redmond campus, according to VG 24/7. Xbox head Phil Spencer will be one of those present at the event, and for good reason-gaming on the Windows 10 will be touched on and discussed during the event.

There has been no mention of any details about what will be announced at the event. However, the source does mention that DirectX 12 may be one of the topics, given that Windows 10 games will mean PC games.

"I'll be focusing more on what we are doing in Win10 in January, it's time for us to talk about gaming on Windows," said Spencer in Twitter as quoted by PC Gamer.

But even before the event, a leak has already been spotted for the preview of Windows 10. Found by The Verge, the leak features Cortana, who has been added on top of the search interface. The report adds that the Cortana for Windows 10 seems to be the same as in the Windows Phone version, but for now, it's still in the early stages as a digital assistant.

More importantly, the Windows 10 build 1991 leaked screenshots also teased the Xbox app, which reportedly acts as a gateway to letting your Windows 10 in on all your Xbox activity. This means getting access to the Store, activity feeds, friends section and more. Similar to the Windows 10, the Xbox app integration is still in its early stages, but some expected additions and improvements include the integration of SmartGlass.

Neowin adds that the transparent tiles may have also been accidentally teased by Major Nelson over at a streaming content. At best, this may be an aesthetic upgrade to make the dashboard look a little more modern, as seen in the screenshot in the link above.

The teaser may be Microsoft's way of keeping fans on their toes until updates return for the Xbox One. IGN had a word with Spencer back in October, where he had mentioned that December will see a pause in updates. Considering that Microsoft has been rolling out new feature after feature with every monthly update on the Xbox One, it's understandable that the holidays will only focus on discounts and sales related to the console.

"In December, it's probably a time for us to pause for a little bit and settle just as all the new consoles are coming online," said Spencer to IGN. Even the only teased feature, which is the ability to take screenshots, won't be coming to the Xbox One until January 2015.

The transparent tiles may be one of the aesthetically-inclined updates for the Xbox One. But even for this one, fans will have to wait until January to get their hands on the new dashboard look.
