Xiaomi Mi 4 vs. LG G3 Similarities and Differences in Specs, Price and Features
Up-and-coming Chinese phone brand Xiaomi has just unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 4 to its main market, China. The LG G3, on the other hand, has also entered the consumer electronics scene last May in South Korea, July in the U.S. and UK, and this August in Australia.
So what are the advantages of the LG G3 over the Xiaomi Mi 4? Can the relatively new Xiaomi brand equal one of South Korea's tech giants in the mobile phone industry? Also, Sophia Kim, an analyst of Woori Investment and Securities, claimed the LG G3 might surpass its predecessor, the LG G2, in terms of sales and popularity. Can the Mi 4 catch up?
What are the advantages of the LG G3 over the Xiaomi Mi 4?
To ensure a better view of the images, messages and video, LG made its flagship smartphone's screen display bigger at about 5.5 inches and a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels with pixel density of 538 ppi. The Quad HD IPS display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, features that are not present in the Mi 4. Although both phones have a 13-MP rear-facing snapper with LED flash, the LG G3's flash has two LED lights compared to the Mi 4 that only has 1 LED light. It also boasts of a laser autofocus and gyroscope sensors make image stabilisation possible. The China-brand handset has an 8-MP front camera while the Korean-brand device only has 2.1 MP, but the aperture of the latter is bigger making it sit perfect for low-lighting conditions. When vibrations are detected, the LG G3 corrects the movement before the image is captured. The LG G3 is able to take slo-mo videos while the other phone in comparison cannot. The G3 has a removable battery, a memory card slot and provides an option for wireless charging, features that the Mi 4 doesn't have.
On the other hand, what makes the Xiaomi Mi 4 better than the LG G3?
For those who want a thinner smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 4 is thinner and smaller with a dimension of 139.2 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm. The 5-inch touchscreen is able to respond to even when the user's finger is wet. The Mi 4's camera can take really high definition videos and images. It has autofocus tracking and video lighting option to ensure high quality videos even in poorly lit areas. This handphone also has a higher battery life by 2.67 percent with its 3,080-mAh Li-Polymer battery compared to the G3's 3,000-mAh Li-Ion battery. LG G3 is availabe in two variants the 16 GB and the 32 GB models, but the the Xiaomi Mi 4 would be preferred by those who want a larger storage space since it has a 64 GB model.
The LG G3 uses the Android KitKat for its operating system while the Xiaomi Mi 4 uses the MIUI 5. These smartphones use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and quad-core Qualcomm Krait 400 which processes at speeds of 2,500 MHz. GPU is Adreno 330 and RAM is 3 GB for both mobile devices.
With regards to price, the Xiaomi Mi 4 has a tag price of U.S.$459.99 (about AU$493) off-contract, while the LG G3 is set to debut in Australia for AU$799.
