Xiaomi Mi4 Rival 'Meizu MX4' Set For International Debut At $449; Pre-Order Active Now With Sept 20 Release Date
In the past few months, the Chinese handset Meizu MX4 has created a buzz among the online community with its high-end specs at an affordable price range. The Meizu MX4, considered as Xiaomi Mi4's rival is up for international pre-orders and the release date is pegged for Sept. 20.
Bai Yongxiang, CEO of Meizu announced that a whopping 7.7 million people have pre-ordered the upcoming Meizu MX4. The quoted price of the MX4 is $449 for a 16 GB variant in the U.S. The 32 GB model, on the other hands, can be purchased for $489. Notably, the aforementioned price includes import tax and shipping charges across selected regions like North America, Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia and New Zealand, according to GSM Arena.
It is worth noting that, the MX4 comes as a 64 GB variant as well. However, the company has not announced the price details, neither the availability of this variant outside China thus far. Android Oriental reports that the Chinese price equivalent of the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB MX4 variants include 1799, 1999 and 2399 Yuan, respectively. Also, the pre-order option will be open until Sept. 20 and the across-the-globe shipment begins on this date.
When it comes to specifications, the Meizu MX4 features a good 5.3-inch IPS LCD display bundled with 1,920 x 1,152 pixels resolution and 418 ppi pixel density. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core (MediaTek MT6595) SoC along with four Cortex-A17 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and additional four Cortex-A7 cores clocked 1.7 GHz. Furthermore, the MX4 is backed by a good 2 GB of RAM. The device runs on Android OS v4.4.4 KitKat and Meizu's Flyme 4.0 UI on top of it.
As far as the camera goes, the phone sports a killer 20.7 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash that can shoot 4K videos and a 2 MP front-facing shooter. Apart from the standard connectivity options like Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi and USB, the phone also supports NFC. Adding cherry on top, the device comes with a killer 3100 mAh battery unit complementing the incredible yet affordable device. Along with the metal-clad exterior, the MX4 comes in gold, gray and white hues. Speaking of size, the handset is 0.35-inch thick and weighs only 147 g. As mentioned earlier the device comes in 3 variants 16/32/64 GBs; however there is no microSD card slot for expansion.
