Xiaomi Mi5 release date is speculated as Jan 15. The release seems quite eminent as leaked photos of Xiaomi Mi5 have surfaced before its announcement. Moreover, benchmark leaks of the handset suggest that it will be able to deliver topnotch performance. The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to get unveiled along with the Redmi Note 2 through a launch event in Beijing, China.

PhoneArena states the Xiaomi Mi5 is a large smartphone that appears unchanged when compared with the predecessor model. However, one striking feature of Xiaomi Mi5 is that it sports a very slim body. Rumours claim that the thickness of the device is only 5.1 mm.

The Xiaomi Mi5 features a 5.2-inch display screen that supports full HD resolution. PhoneArena claims that the display resolution of the display is not confirmed as speculations also indicate that the flagship smartphone's display may support Quad HD resolution.

According to leaked AnTuTu benchmarks, under the chassis of the Xiaomi Mi5 flagship lies the Snapdragon 801 chipset that is present inside the predecessor model. It is accompanied by 2 GB of RAM. The handset was previously speculated to come with Snapdragon 805 or Snapdragon 810 chipset along 3 GB of RAM, states GSMArena.

The plastic rear of the device can attract fingerprint impressions quite easily. The Mi5 may feature a 13 MP shooter along with a dual-LED on its rear. The camera will be able to shoot high quality photos with good balance in low-lighting conditions.

The AnTuTu benchmarks of Xiaomi Mi5 seem very promising with a score of 46866. It is ranked on the fifth position on the list of top benchmark performance scoring handsets like Galaxy Alpha (score - 51905), Motorola Nexus 6 (score - 49803) and Meizu MX4 Pro (score - 46922). PhoneArena claims that instead of launching the device with Xiaomi Mi5, the Chinese manufacturer may even roll it out as Xiaomi Mi4s.

PhoneArena claims that Xiaomi is poised to release not one but two devices on Jan 15. It reports that both Xiaomi Mi4 successor, the Mi5 as well as the Redmi Note 2 is expected to roll out on the same day.
