Xiaomi Redmi 1S thatwas priced at $169 is one of the most popular budget smartphones that has gained huge popularity in the recent past. Today, one lakh Redmi 1S units were sold in few minutes on Flipkart.com in India through flash sale. In India, it is priced at 5,999 INR that is equivalent to $98.

One of the major reasons why people are interested in buying the Redmi 1S is that it comes with a very affordable price tag. However, many people who used the device are plagued with heating issues and dismal battery life.

Even though the handset has impressive hardware specs, customers across the globe have reported performance related issues. According to thetecholic.com, the new firmware update released by Xiaomi will be able to fix all the known problems of Redmi 1S. The new update will also bring the MIUI 5 v4.5 to the handset.

The OTA update that has been available for Redmi 1S is of 514.4 MB. The new update brings improvement to the thermal control algorithm that will keep the temperature of the device under control. Many users have complained that the temperature of the device reaches up to 45C. The new update will bring the temperature of the device under 38C.

The new update will also bring improvement to the RAM management of the device so that the handset does not quit the apps automatically while running multiple apps on the device. Xiaomi has also brought performance improvements to the user interface to overcome UI lag issues.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is also known as Hongmi 1S. It measures 9.9 mm in thickness and weighs 158 g. The 4.7-inch IPS LCD display supports HD resolution and offers a pixel density of 312 ppi.

The Redmi 1S is equipped with Snapdragon Cortex A7 quad-core processor that delivers a clocking speed of 1.6 GHz and Adreno 305 graphics. The chipset is supported by 1 GB RAM. The internal storage of the device is 8GB. The handset is preloaded with Android v4.3 Jelly Bean. It is housed with a 2,000 mAh battery.
