Xiaomi will unveil Mi4c on Sep.22
Xiaomi may be looking to add a new handset to its Mi4 family. Latest reports claim that the third Mi4 version, called Mi4c, is expected to be released on Sep.22.
Previously, leaked images suggested that the phone has passed through TENNA, the Chinese verification body and AnTuTu benchmark database, GSM Arena reported. The rumoured device will allegedly be the most budget friendly handset in the Mi4 line.
The AnTuTu benchmark revealed a list of the hardware specifications, starting with the slight upgrade from its predecessor’s processor to the Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418. Other sighted features include 13MP rear camera with 5MP front snapper, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage capacity. The rumoured Xiaomi Mi4c may also come in a slimmer profile and a matte rear cover.
According to a report by GizChina, the device targeted for the mid-range market will likely sport a dual SIM capability with 4G LTE support. The Xiaomi Mi4c is supposed to ship with the latest MIUI 7 system based on the Android 5.1.1. The report suggests that the Xiaomi Mi4c will be released first in China in an event in Beijing, with plans for a later rollout globally.
An earlier report by Xiaomitoday revealed that the device will launch on Sep.24. Retail availability is pegged for an Oct. 3 release. There are speculations that the Xiaomi Mi4c will have two variants – a 16GB model with 2GB of RAM and the 3GB version with 32GB of internal storage.
Meanwhile, the company unveiled an upgraded variant of its Redmi 2A smartphone in China. The smartphone is currently on sale in its home country. The original Redmi 2A was launched back in March at CNY 599 (AU $133) with 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage. The upgraded new Redmi 2A comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage with a price tag of CNY 549 (AU $122).
