Google-owned largest video website YouTube, will launch a service that will feature TV channels with scheduled programming that will battle TV viewing.

Wall Street Journal reported that YouTube will launch a new service that will lure people from their TV sets. The company has been shopping for ideas from various US media firms for months.

According to the report, the new service will equal the competition with competitors such as Hulu, iTunes and Netflix.

There is no word out yet on what kind of channels YouTube will include in its line. YouTube already have several categories for its video archive such as comedy, entertainment, food, news and travel.

YouTube is finalizing its contracts with the first dozen channels. The company requested for the content in the next 60 days and is planning a launch on early 2012.

The company recently announced a new option in uploading and viewing of videos. The company declared that it is planning to affix a YouTube 3D button to make videos in 3D.

YouTube has been the home of multitude videos and was famous because of Justin Bieber, Rebecca Black and Maria Aragon. Internet giant Google bought YouTube in 2006.
