3 Fun Facts About Pokemon X and Y: Difficult to Name, Fairy Type Pokemons, Getting All the Starters
Pokemon X and Y has proven to be a revolution in the long-standing franchise, but it had its share of ups and downs, and added new features that you would be interested to know about.
Here are three fun facts about the Pokemon X and Y, which include a new easy method for gamers to collect all the starters, a look at the developers' hardship on one feature of the game, and how one type of Pokemon brought back balance to the world.
An easier way to get all starter Pokemons
When Pokemon X and Y came out, there was a lot of buzz as to which starter was best. You have three to choose from after all, Froakie, Chespin, and Fennekin. Each one has a specific attribute that would be nice to use, while for others, getting all starters is just a challenge called for every Pokemon trainer.
Game Freak has made it easier for Pokemon and Y collectors to get the starter Pokemons compared to previous iterations, reports Geek. Of course, it doesn't come without challenges, as you are also given another round of starter options to choose from. The Pokemons for this part hail from Pokemon Red and Blue, namely Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
After the two choices, you now have four more seemingly unobtainable Pokemons, but there's an easy way to go about this: by means of trade. Once you defeat the Elite Four, you'll finally get your hands on the Ditto, a Pokemon that you can use as a breeding mechanism. Just pop it and your starter into Day Care to create a clone of your starter.
Once you get your Pokemon egg, you can speed up the hatching time by riding a bicycle on Route 7 where the Day Care is located. And after the egg hatches with your starter Pokemon, go to the GTS through the start menu. Find a player who is willing to trade your clone starter for the starter that you are looking for.
According to the report, this is a common practice nowadays, so it should be easy to find a starter of your choice to trade.

Names that (almost) made the creators cry
Ever wonder how people could come up with those wacky, out-of-this-world Pokemon names? Well, it wasn't an easy task to begin with for developers.
"Tons of names have already been used up, so thinking up new pokemon names is incredibly difficult," said Junichi Masuda, Game Freak director, in an interview quoted by GameSpot.
What added to the pressure was that the developers wanted the names of the creatures in Pokemon X and Y to be uniform for all the markets that the game will be releasing.
But in the end, the developers were able to do it and then some, even putting a deeper meaning to X and Y. Apparently, this means the x and y axis, planes on which different people think. But even with these differences, there is one point of intersection for all.
A more balanced system with the fairy type
After all the versions of the Pokemon game, the developers are now bringing in a way to balance the battles, with the use of Fairy Type Pokemons.
"This time we made some more major changes to the battle balance with the introduction of the Fairy type as well as adjusting the type matchups with existing types," said Masuda in another interview, this time quoted by Official Nintendo Magazine.
With the Pokemon count pushing past 600, the key towards creating a more or less perfect system of battles to create fair play for all those involved.
The decision to rebalance the battles and the strategy by which this was done had been based on the Pokemon World Championships, which the report says still required quite a bit of work to make sure that it employs most of what players used during battles.
But rest assured, if you have somehow found your rhythm in the new battle system, Game Freak has announced that they won't be releasing any updates to adjust the balance of the battle system, as they think that for now ,it seems like the most perfect blend that has been achieved since.
