With the Minecraft 1.6.2 updating just early this week, mods have already been updated to be compatible so that players can easily slip into the gaming pace without losing a beat.

Here are the three fun mods that you can try this week. Remember, those who are attached to their current Minecraft worlds should have a backup, as with every other mod, there is a possibility that something might go wrong..

So get ready for zombies, massive structures, and x-rays with three mods to experiment with over the weekend.

Ruins of the dead map

As the name implies, you'll be encountering 16 waves of zombies, with the boss level having you fight off the Zombie King. The aim of the game is to light 16 lights, one for each zombie wave.

You'll be battling in an underground location after jumping the proverbial rabbit hole-or in this case, a hellhole of sorts, into the waiting zombies-where there are hidden chambers, safe houses, unlockables, and intertwining levels.

As per SkyDoesMinecraft, it is one of the best maps, with rounds of zombies fast enough to give you the right amount of adrenaline rush and with free items that you'll find useful along the way.

Installing the Ruins of the Dead map is easy. As per Minecraft 16, all you need to do to get the Ruins of the Dead Map 5.0 is as follows:

- Extract the map on your desktop

- Click "Install Map.bat" to start the process

- Restart the map fresh by using the "Restart World.bat"

XRay Mod

The XRay mod is pretty straightforward, as you get to have an X-ray vision when mining, hence making it easier to find blocks.

According to 6Minecraft.net, XRay mod is able to work on both the single and multiplayer modes and on most servers that the gamer wishes to play on.

You don't have to deal with useless blocks as the mod acts as a filter, and the night vision also makes for easier exploration of caves.

Some of the additional mod functions include redstone finder, fly mod, and having better coordinates. The XRay Mod is currently compatible with Minecraft 1.6.2.

To install this mod, just follow the steps provided by 6Minecraft.net:

- Open Start Menu and type in %appdata%/.minecraft/bin, then press Enter

- Open the Minecraft.jar with WinRAR or 7zip

- Delete the META-INF folder

- Drag all the .class files in the Xray mod file in the Minecraft.jar to replace the old files

- Close the windows

- Run Minecraft and start!

- A good warning before you start-the XRay mod is considered to be a cheat, so some servers may not allow the XRay vision.

Instant Massive Structures

If you want to build structures automatically and quickly, the Instant Massive Structures Mod from developer SimJoo, is now compatible with Minecraft 1.6.2, will make it easier to do so.

According to Minecraft16, you can easily build more than 20 different structures, comparing the mod to the Autohouse minus the bugs. In fact, you can use just one block to create an entire structure.

There are several kinds of structures that you can build with this mod, including towers, pyramids, enchantment rooms, houses, farmlands, bunkers, prisons, roller coasters, airplanes, caves, waterslides, and more.

Follow the steps provided to get this mod going:

- Drag the manualinstallation folder out of the InstantMassiveStructures.zip

- Open start and type in %appdata% in the text bar

- Go into the /.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar, and open with WinRar or 7zip

- Drag all the files from the manual installation folder into the minecraft.jar

- Delete the META-INF inside the minecraft.jar

- Close the window and start playing.
