Ever wondered what would happen when you combine Minecraft Xbox 360, which is basically a building game, with a first-person shooter game that's all about action and more action?

Exacto Game Studios has just the answer with Guncraft, where you can get the best of both building and destroying worlds--technically speaking.

"Guncraft is the marriage between what everybody loves about Minecraft, all the creative aspects, and what everybody loves about the gameplay of Call of Duty and Halo--which is shooting your friends in the face," said Ted Lange, executive producer of Guncraft, to Shack News.

This means almost no rules in terms of gameplay--your enemy can build forts to protect himself, but you can also alter the environment yourself and shoot 'em down. Of course, the same also goes for you, which is probably what's also part of the fun in Guncraft.

Guncraft now has finally announced its release date, for July 11. According to developer Exacto Game Studios' official blog, the game will be available on Desura, Green Man Gaming, Rain Digital Games, GamersGate, and through the official Guncraft website.

And just recently, the game has been Greenlit by the community, and Valve has reached out to the developer to start moving the release on Steam. More details on the game will come as the releases go.

What you may also be interested in knowing about Guncraft would be its premiere weapon, which, according to the Exacto Game Studios, is something short of amazing in leveling down your competition.

"We are finally throwing out all the details on Gunsmithing, our premiere weapon creation tool. Craft something 100% unique to your taste, give it its own stats, then use it in game to decimate your foes. No game has ever had such a robust weapon editor without modding/hacking the game. So grab Guncraft, make some fantastic weapons, and block and load!"

Experience Minecraft in VR

Minecraft isn't exactly a Battlefield game nor is it a thrilling chaos like Saints Row, but if you're looking at what virtual reality gameplay can offer now, it has the makings of a great base platform.

Joystiq reports that Minecraft's multiplayer has been tested by two Omni developers. It's a good complimentary approach to a game like Minecraft, as Omni's purpose is to allow you to experience a virtual reality in a freer manner within your favorite game.

"Moving naturally in virtual reality creates an unprecedented sense of immersion that cannot be experienced sitting down," said Virtuix in their Kickstarter page. "That's why we developed the Omni.

In June, the Omni VR by Virtuix launched its Kickstarter campaign wherein the project's projected $150,000 goal was more than doubled with 48 more days of funding required.

At present, the pledged amount is close to $1 million ($976,362), to be exact, from 2,781 backers, with 19 more days to go for the campaign's funding.
