5 Upcoming iOS Games: 'Batman: Arkham Origins,' Augmented Reality Game 'Ingress,' iPhone 5C’s 'Flipcase,' 'Modern Combat 5' and More
In the coming months, a number of iOS games have been slated for release, including a free-to-play brawler, the fifth installment of a much-awaited combat game, an adaptation of a cult series, an augmented reality game and a re-invention of "Flipcase."
'Batman: Arkham Origins'
From the makers of "Injustice: Gods Among Us," NetherRealm Studios, comes the free-to-play brawler based on the console game of the same name, "Batman: Arkham Origins."
In the iOS game, you will be Batman and play against some of the deadly assassins seen in the console game. Rewards and upgrades are also available as unlockables.
'Ingress'
First available via Google Play, Google's "Ingress" game has now been slated for launch on the iOS come 2014. It's one of the most well-received games, as it invites global participation and a more active way to play a game rather than just sitting around at home.
In "Ingress," you have to choose either the Enlightened or the Resistances side, each of which have a particular goal. The app will transform your world into the strategic playing field and gets you to ally yourselves with other gamers.
Now, iOS gamers can also take part in the action and no longer need to resort to the jailbroken version of the game, which according to MacRumors, could easily ban an iOS gamer from the game.
'Modern Combat 5'
"Modern Combat 5" is probably one of the most awaited games since its announcement at the E3 2013, but recently, Gameloft revealed that it will push back the release of the game until an indefinite date in 2014.
"In order to fully achieve our vision for Modern Combat 5 we have decided to postpone the launch to 2014," said Gameloft in their official Twitte account.
A demo version was already shown off last June, but perhaps delaying it until 2014 will deliver better graphics and missions. Or one possible theory for the delay could also be that optimisation for the iOS 7 controller, which has a better angle on gaming, will be created.
'Firefly'
Based on the TV series of the same name, "Firefly" will be coming out for the iOS (and Android) in the summer of 2014 from developers QMXi and Spark Plug Games.
The game will let you lead missions and recruit your crew for the ship, and as an online game, it also has cross-platform functionality.
"It has always been our mission to bring the Verse to life for our customers in every way possible," said Andy Gore of QMXi and Quantum Mechanix Inc. to Polygon. "The idea of creating an interactive experience where fans can have their own Firefly adventures -- well, that's just too shiny for words," Mr Gore added.
'Flipcase'
Some people found the iPhone 5C to be sort of a joke, while others laughed more at the colourful perforated case that looked very much like a cheese grater. But now, a new game makes having both the iPhone 5C and even the cover worth it.
Introducing "Flipcase," a gaming app where you would need to put on the case of your iPhone 5C backward with the perforations over the screen so you can play the game. This is already out in iTunes.
According to PC Mag, the game is pretty reminiscent of "Connect Four" from way back in the 1970s. While the game does not necessarily need the iPhone 5C cover for you to play it, if you are using that particular device, you might as well use the case for fun.
