Adrian Peterson disputes Jamaal Charles' claim, declares he is 'the LeBron James of the NFL'
Another NFL star running back declares he is the “LeBron James of the NFL.” Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson will be back on the field this season in the NFL and looking forward to proving that he is the best running back in the sport.
Peterson, who will be rejoining the Vikings after a nearly season-long suspension due to a domestic violence case, has disputed Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles’ claim as the most dominant RB in the league saying in an interview that he is LeBron in American football.
"I'm the LeBron," Peterson said via ESPN when asked about Charles’ comments.
Earlier in August, the Chiefs running back claimed that he is James in his sport. LeBron is considered one of the best players in basketball.
"Sometimes I feel like I'm the LeBron of football," Charles said to The Kansas City Star early in August. "Because I can do so much."
The 30-year-old Peterson is currently suffering from a minor injury his thigh and is not expected to play in the Vikings’ preseason games but will play in Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season.
Before the suspension in the 2014 season, Peterson was considered one of the best RBs in the league leading the NFL in total rushing yards in 2008 and 2012. He won the NFL Most Valuable Player award in 2012 when he ran for 2,097 rushing yards on 348 attempts with 12 touchdowns. For his career, he has a total of 10,190 on 2,054 with 86 touchdowns.
For comparison, Charles has also been one of the best running backs in football in recent years. He owns the Chiefs’ franchise record for total rushing yards and led the AFC in the same category in 2013.
