With the highly anticipated “Avengers: Age of Ultron” coming to the West on May 1, the mad robot Ultron sets his sights on several Marvel games to conquer. It was announced that a good number of Ultron-specific content would be appearing in a number of popular Marvel games like “Marvel Contest of Champions,” “Marvel Heroes,” “Marvel Puzzle Quest,” “Marvel Avengers Alliance” and “Marvel Pinball.”

Announced via the Hollywood Reporter, the decision was made to have Ultron invade these Marvel games as a way to capitalize on the anticipation and hype for the upcoming “Age of Ultron” film. That being said, Bill Rosemann the Creative director of Marvel Games, stated that did not demand Ultron to appear in the games, rather they simply suggested the premise.

This was all made possible due to the close relationship between the Marvel film division and the Marvel video game division. Due to this, the designers for the Marvel games were able to access content from the upcoming films at a very early stage, like costume and character designs or the various weapons that could be appearing.

Some of the Ultron content includes a new “Age of Ultron” game mode for “Marvel Heroes,” where players will be able to control one of the Avengers in the film in their new “Age of Ultron” costumes and a side quest in “Marvel’s Contest of Champions.” Marvel also profiled the popular Hulkbuster armour of Iron Man, which is set to be a playable character in “Marvel Avenger’s Alliance” and “Marvel Puzzle Quest,” along with the Scarlet Witch.

Marvel’s EVP of Interactive and Digital Distribution, Peter Philips also teased a possible “Age of Ultron” game. He stated that just because a variety of “Age of Ultron” content is coming to all these video game titles, doesn’t mean an “Age of Ultron” game isn’t in the works.

Ultron will invade these Marvel games on April 23, while “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will come out in the West on May 1. Most of the aforementioned Marvel games mentioned above are free to download for both iOS and Android devices, with “Marvel Pinball” being the only exception, as it is not free and “Marvel Heroes” being a free-to-play online game for PC and MAC.
