Akuma will play major role in 'Tekken 7: Fated Retribution'; will be the only guest character
Ever since Akuma was revealed for “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution,” fans have been wondering how the character will be incorporated into the “Tekken” mythos and if there would be any more guest characters. While games like “Mortal Kombat X” and “Super Smash Bros” have been relying on numerous guest characters, “Tekken 7” will only have Akuma from “Street Fighter” and no other character from any other game.
Apparently, the developers of “Tekken 7” did not want Akuma to be a random guest character who adds nothing to the mythos, so they decided to make him an integral part of the story. Fans who saw the character’s reveal trailer know that he will be planning to kill Heihachi, as part of a special “favor” he owes to the “Tekken” villain’s wife.
An article from Attack of the Fanboy states that they didn’t want Akuma to be a cheesy gimmick character, which is admirable to say the least. It’s doubtful that Jason Vorhees will be impacting storylines in “Mortal Kombat X,” so seeing Akuma play a major role in “Tekken 7” really feels unique and makes the character’s appearance seem like an even bigger deal than it already was.
Interestingly enough, Akuma’s presence in “Tekken 7” might be the main reason he won’t be appearing in “Street Fighter V.” While it’s entirely possible that the character will be downloadable content (DLC) later on, it shows that both developers are taking the character’s guest status very seriously.
New features are also coming to the fighting game, but it hasn't been clearly defined yet according to Segment Next. What’s known so far is that these features will be in both the arcade and console versions of “Fated Retribution,” which should please fans of both platforms since no one gets left out.
“Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” currently has no release date, though it will be published by Bandai Namco. The seventh game in the series – not counting the “Tag Tournament” spinoffs or the crossover game “Street Fighter X Tekken” – will feature more of the Mishima clan family drama that the fans can’t seemingly get enough of, along with new characters from different countries.
