Alleged Xiaomi Mi 5 live photos show the super-slim chassis, metallic frame, fingerprint scanner
Recently, Xiaomi’s senior VP confirmed the Xiaomi Mi 5 release date as February, after the Chinese spring festival. Following which, a new set of leaked live photos show the stunning exterior design of the upcoming handset.
A Weibo post, picked up by the portal Gadgetz Arena, has listed two live photos of Xiaomi Mi 5 in black hue. The flagship looks extremely thin, sleek and features a small hardware home button. There is also a thin metal frame running through the corners of the handset, giving it a premium appeal.
Moving on to the rumoured specifications, the Mi 5 will reportedly carry a 5.2-inch display, packed with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels Full HD resolution. However, it is worth noting that, past rumours indicated the possibility of a QHD screen resolution.
A total of two variants of the Mi 5 will apparently be released. One of two versions will come backed by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage capacity. The other variant will feature a solid 4 GB of RAM configuration and 64 GB of internal storage combination.
As far as the camera specification goes, a killer 16 MP rear-facing snapper and a gracious 13 MP selfie-clicker at the front are believed to be housed in the device. Under the hood, the handset will come powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC. Software-wise, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS will run the phone, out of the box.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to come equipped with 3,600 mAh battery cell. The small fingerprint scanner embedded on the home button will apparently be world’s smallest and fastest sensor.
When it comes to pricing, earlier reports suggested that, the 32 GB model will set the buyers back by 1,999 yuan (roughly US$302 and AU$433), whereas the 64 GB model will be priced at 2,299 (about US$347 and AU$498).
In any case, readers should note that, the Chinese tech giant has not confirmed any Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications, price or verified the authenticity of the leaked photos thus far.
