Jessica Lange is done with FX’s horror anthology series “American Horror Story,” after headlining it for four seasons, but she is not yet done with its co-creator Ryan Murphy. The two are reuniting, but this time not for another TV series.

Veteran actress Lange is starring in a new Broadway play, titled “Long Day’s Journey into Night.” Murphy is producing this play’s new stage production, according to Vanity Fair. He reportedly holds stage rights of Eugene O’ Neill’s play and he is producing it with Roundabout.

Lange is playing Mary Throne and Gabriel Byrne has been cast as her husband, James Throne. John Gallagher Jr. will be seen as Throne couple’s son, Edmund. Jonathan Kent is directing the play. Vanity Fair reported that Lange is reprising the role of Ms. Throne. She first played the “morphine-addled matriarch” character way back in 2000 at West End in London.

“Long Day’s Journey into Night” is scheduled to begin previews on March 31, 2016 and it is going to open on April 19 at American Airlines Theatre, according to New York Times report. It also reported that it is Murphy who first approached theatre artistic director, Todd Haimes, with the idea to revive the play, with Lange starring in it.

Lange is returning to Broadway after a gap of nearly a decade. She last appeared on Broadway in 2005 for “The Glass Menagerie.” Also in 1992, she starred in “A Streetcar Names Desiree.”

Meanwhile, this October, “American Horror Story” will be returning with its fifth edition and for the first time, Lange will not be starring in it. She has been an integral part of the series till Season 4, playing Constance Langdon in Season 1 “Murder House,” Sister Jude in Season 2 “Asylum,” Fiona Goode in Season 3 “Coven” and Elsa Mars in Season 4 “Freak Show.”

Except Lange, most of the key actors of the horror anthology series are returning to star in “American Horror Story” Season 5, subtitled “Hotel,” including Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters. In addition to “American Horror Story,” Murphy is also the co-creator of Fox's new show, “Scream Queens,” that is set to premiere this fall.
