Samsung has been spearheading the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for all the Galaxy line-up of devices across the globe. However, unavoidable delays are not new as the devices have to be updated in various regions. In the meantime, Samsung Norway is apparently facing major issues in rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Update For Samsung Galaxy S5/Galaxy S4 On Hold

According to reports from You Mobile, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update was reportedly being sent out to both Galaxy S5 with model number SM-G900x and Galaxy S4 with model number SM-I950x, sticking to the schedule. However, an unspecified massive problem cropped up and in turn, it apparently forced Samsung Norway to put the software package update “on-hold.” Reportedly, this delay is unavoidable because many Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 owners thronged the local Samsung outlet to report the problems they were facing after receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, notes GSM Arena.

Moreover, the reported problems ranged from different bugs, performance issues, random freezes of various apps like the Phone and Contact apps and in many cases the phone became unusable. Unfortunately, the sudden app crashes are apparently affecting the most-used Alarm application as well. Overall, this over-the-air (OTA) software update has reportedly been quite sluggish with the Norway specific update.

Samsung’s Official Statement Via Facebook Update

Here is the statement published by Samsung Norway about the aforesaid problems and the consequent delay in the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5/S4: “We are aware of the issues some users are experiencing after installing the update Android 5.0 Lollipop and now has stopped the current version.” “We work full time with a new update that contains solutions to the problems that have been reported to us, including a new solution for silent mode. We hope to send out the update shortly, and will keep you updated on Facebook,” the local Samsung outlet added further.

Reason For Delay In Android 5.0 Lollipop Update For Galaxy S5/Galaxy S4

The main reason quoted by GSM Arena for the issue is the mix-up of the shipped Android 5.0 Lollipop software package. To be specific, several unidentified potential bugs could have been hidden in the ROMs and once the software update started rolling out, unexpected problems have cropped up. In any case, readers should note that, Samsung Norway has acknowledged the existence of the problem and it is working to resolve the issue promptly.
