Apple announces record-breaking sales for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
Apple, Inc. announced record-breaking sales of its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus on Monday. The giant tech company reported over 13 million handsets sold just three days after the launch of these new phones. With this success, Apple said it will make the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus available in 40 more countries.
“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” shared Apple CEO Tim Cook in a press release. He added that customer feedback on the New 3D Touch and Live Photos has been positive.
With Apple’s sales beating market analyst’s expectation of 12 million to 13 million units, shares of the tech firm rose by more than one per cent, reported Reuters. Initial projections saw sales at 10 million units, excluding the Chinese market. Regulatory problems in China delayed the gadget’s debut last year.
Apple is estimated to have sold more than two million units in China over the weekend, said Daniel Ives, an analyst for the Federal Board of Revenue. Market analysts foresee China as Apple’s biggest market.
The new iPhones will be available in over 130 countries by the end of the year. Apple’s profits depend a lot on iPhone sales, which generated more than two-thirds of its income in the latest quarter.
On Oct. 9, the new iPhones will be available in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan.
