Apple iPhone 6S vs iPhone 6: Specs comparisons, key differences, find out reasons to upgrade or not
The iPhone 6S has been officially unveiled and it has come to succeed the iPhone 6S. Both handsets do not differ in appearance but the newer comes with upgraded hardware specs.
With the release of iPhone 6S, owners of iPhone 6 may be wondering whether they should continue using the older handset or switch to the newly launched iPhone. Here are the key differences between the iPhone 6S and iPhone:
Dimensions
The iPhone 6S is built with stronger series 7000 aluminum alloy than the series 6000 aluminum alloy of iPhone 6. Hence, with a thickness of 7.3 mm, the newer handset is thicker than the iPhone 6 that has a slimmer profile of 7.1 mm. The iPhone 6S with a weight of 143 grams is heavier than iPhone that weights 129 grams.
3D Touch
Both the handsets sport the same 4.7 inches IPS LCD Retina screen with the same resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and pixel density of 326 ppi, according to Engadget’s report. However, the display of the iPhone 6S is equipped with a 3D Touch feature that functions like the right-clicking on PC, Wall Street Journal blog reported. A longer press on the screen will show a menu with frequently used actions.
Apple A9 Chipset
Apple A9 chipset contains a 64-bit processor. The clocking speed is not known yet. However, Apple revealed that it is 70 percent faster and 90 percent faster in graphics than the Apple A8 chipset. The M9 Motion co-processor is now embedded in the chipset. It is coupled with 2 GB of RAM, GSM Arena reported.
Upgraded Cameras
The iPhone 6S sports a main camera of 12 MP that carries support for 4K resolution video recording. It can also shoot 1080 pixels slow motion videos. The iPhone 6 is equipped with an 8 MP shooter and supports full HD video recording and 720 pixels slow motion shooting. The iPhone 6S can capture moving photos of 1.5 seconds through Live Photos feature, Mac Rumors reported.
The iPhone 6 has a 1.2 MP front camera. However, the iPhone 6’s selfie camera of 5 MP is on par with current rivals. Also, while snapping selfies on the iPhone 6S, users can use the Retina display to brighten up by three times to function as camera flash.
Improved Connectivity
The Wi-Fi connectivity on the iPhone 6S is twofold faster than what iPhone 6 can deliver. Also, the iPhone 6S is equipped with a Cat.6 LTE chip that is capable of reaching max download and upload speeds of 300 Mbps and 150 Mbps. The Cat.4 LTE modem of iPhone 6 can reach max download and upload speeds of 150 Mbps and 50 Mbps
Efficient Battery
According to Phone Arena, the iPhone 6S house a smaller battery of 1715 mAh, but the predecessor features 1810 mAh battery. Since the A9 chip and iOS 9 are power efficient, the battery of the iPhone 6S can offer the same endurance like the iPhone 6’s battery offers.
New Color Option
The iPhone 6 is available in three colors, silver, gold and space gray. The iPhone 6S is also available in same colors along with a new option of rose gold.
ike iPhone 6, the iPhone 6S also comes in storage options like 16 GB ($199), 64 GB ($299) and 128 GB ($399). The iPhone 6S preorders will start from Sept. 12.
