Apple MacBook Air massively discounted - indicates imminent release of MacBook Air 2016
It looks like we won't have to wait too much longer for Apple to release its new MacBook Air line-up.
The Cupertino giant is now offering discounts on its existing 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air exclusively through Apple authorised reseller B&H Photo -- a move that has fuelled rumours of the imminent release of new MacBook 2016 models. Prevailing speculations indicate that Apple will unveil the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air ranges at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016 event in June. The event will likely take place from June 13-17, 2016.
The B&H Photo promotional deal, in collaboration with Apple Insider, will be valid till 11:59 pm ET on April 12 or when current stock sells out. It is selling the 13-inch MacBook Air, which was first launched in early 2015 at a retail price of $999, at $869 (AU$1139) with free shipping, saving buyers $130. Additionally, there will be no tax levied on purchases made outside New York, Apple Insider reported.
The 2015 MacBook Air sports a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with 1440 x 900 pixels resolution. Powered by 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and paired with 4GB of RAM, the device offers 128GB of native storage.
At the same time, B&H Photo is offering the 11-inch MacBook Air for as low as $749 (AU$981) -- a discount of $150. The laptop is powered by 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of in-built storage. Customers outside NY will also be able to save $220 on the device.
Apple is rumoured to be unveiling its new 13-inch and 15-inch ultra-thin MacBook Air models with a completely new configuration under the hood. The tech giant may also release a MacBook Pro 2016 model sporting Intel’s 6th-generation Skylake processor at its June WWDC event.
Meanwhile, Apple's new MacBook models launch may be marred by Microsoft, who is also expecting to launch its Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 devices sometime in June, with the Windows 10 Redstone update.
